For the second straight week, the Texas A&M-Kingsville football team was honored with the Defensive Player of the Week in the Lone Star Conference South Division. This week’s winner was senior safety DeIra Glover (Hempstead/Hempstead HS).
Glover spearheaded a defensive unit that led the Javelinas to a 20-7 victory at East Central. He led the team with nine tackles and picked up his first interception of the year as part of four turnovers forced by the team. He played a key role in limiting ECU to minus-9 yards rushing and just 87 total yards of offense.
Glover and the Javelinas take on Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday at 7 p.m. for their home opener.
