Alvarado's Advice

Imagine there is a bank which credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day, and every evening when you lie down to sleep, it cancels whatever part of that amount you had failed to use during the day. And the only variable is that you don’t know when your bank will stop this process. So, what would you do? You would find a way to spend it, right?

In theory, we all have such a bank. It’s called “Time.” Every morning, God credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night God has to write off as a loss whatever you failed to invest toward a good purpose. This account will not carry a balance over, either.

Ecclesiastes 7:14 (NASB) states: “Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.” Each day God opens a new account for you. If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours. There is no going back; you must live on today’s deposit.

Time is a wonderful gift from God. We need to take advantage of every second we have in all aspects of our lives. In athletics, we may be on top at any given moment, but if we do not use the time we have to prepare for the next game or the next season we may find ourselves behind. In life, it is the same. God asks us to obey Him and use our time to serve Him as He has commanded us.

Today, take the time to invest in others and in relationships by following Christ’s example of love and serving.

Half n Half

At the end of practice the team gets into stretch lines. The players are split Offense(blue jerseys) and Defense (White jerseys)

A lot of offense, add some defense, sprinkle in some great coaching and let run around in Javelina Stadium at about 64 degrees for 2 hours. That’s the recipe for success! Today was a good practice overall filled with offense vs defense in a goaline challenge with the defense coming out on top. The players looked great and are improving every day.

Showing Some Support

Some of the players watching the baseball game on a beautiful day in Kingsville.

Double Duty

At the Lafayette Rider Winter Invitational at the 168th Street Armory in New York freshman WR CJ Griggs from Van Vleck HS took 1st place in the Long Jump with a jump of  23-11 and missed automatically qualifying for nationals by a centimeter.  Griggs is currently ranked eighth nationally in the event and will likely earn a spot in the national championships.  Griggs also took 1st place in the Tripple Jump with a jump of 48-6.75.  Another football player Freshman Anthony Washington from Cy-Springs placed 1st in the the 4X400 meter relay with a time of 3:20.00, just missing out on national qualifying.

What is it?

It cost nothing, but creates much.
It enriches those who receive it, without impoverishing those who give.
It happens in a flash and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.
None are so rich that they can get along without it, and none are so poor but are richer for its benefits.
It creates happiness in the home, foster good will in the business, and is the countersign of friends.
It is rest to the weary, daylight to the discouraged, sun shine to the sad, and nature’s best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that in no early good to anybody until it is given away.
If someone be too tired to give you a smile, leave one of yours.
For nobody needs a smile so much as those who have none left to give.
SMILE =)
