The NCAA Division II Football Regional Rankings were released on Monday afternoon and Texas A&M-Kingsville is third in Super Region Four. The top six teams in all four Super Regions advance to the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

The Javelinas (8-1) are currently in line to host a first round playoff game if the rankings hold true over the final two weeks of the regular season. Last year, the team finished 9-2 in the regular season and earned the fourth seed in the region.

The Javelinas are joined by three other Lone Star Conference schools in the top six. Abilene Christian is first, West Texas A&M is fifth and Saturday night’s opponent Midwestern State is sixth. Rounding out the top 10 are Central Missouri in second, Northwest Missouri State in fourth, Missouri Western (7th), Central Washington (8th), Humboldt State (9th) and Washburn (10th).

In the national polls, the Javelinas moved up one spot to fourth in the American Football Coaches Association Poll. Minnesota-Duluth is the new top team after Grand Valley State lost to Michigan Tech and dropped to eighth. This is the highest the team has been ranked all season.
