A number of the performers from this weekend’s Wings Over South Texas Air Show at NAS Kingsville will be making a special appearance for local school children and others as they join with Texas A&M University-Kingsville for a special pep rally Friday, March 26, at Javelina Stadium. Throughout the morning, various aircraft will perform flybys over Javelina Stadium.
The pep rally will be divided into two portions, the first for middle and high school students beginning at 8:45 a.m. and the second for elementary school students beginning at 9:45 a.m. Each arriving class will be met by a Javelina student athlete, including Javelina Football Players who will escort the group to their seats and stay with them throughout the event.
The middle and high school portion will feature a video of Javelina Head Football Coach Bo Atterberry’s flight with the Blue Angels. The Blue Angels will be introduced and they will talk to the students.
The elementary students will be greeted by a group jump by the Golden Knights parachute team. Members of the Golden Knights will talk to the students. The Viper East team also will be introduced.
The university cheer team and members of the Pride of South Texas Marching Band also will perform. A video of a performance of Tora! Tora! Tora! will be shown at both events. This video is a commemorative U.S. Air Force recreation of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
Gates for the Wings Over South Texas Air Show at NAS Kingsville open at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 27-28.
