Athletic Department Wins Community Engagement Award

The Texas A&M-Kingsville athletic department was honored as the Lone Star Conference Community-Engagement Award of Excellence winner for 2009-10 at the recent Division II Chancellors and Presidents Summit in Indianapolis.

The award-winning event was the women’s basketball team’s Take A Kid to the Game event that was sponsored by Christus Spohn Hospital-Kleberg.

By winning the Lone Star Conference award, the Javelina athletic department was awarded with $500 and was considered for the national NCAA Division II award that was won by Benedict College.

This is the second LSC award the Kingsville athletic department has won this year joining the Best Game Day Environment award that was won in the fall.

Season tickets go on sale tomorrow afternoon and are available for purchase in McCulley Hall.

2010 Javelina Youth Football Camp

Even two quick down pours couldn't stop the Javelina Youth Football Camp. We went under the bleachers after the first rain hit then went back out to the field. When the rain came back the kids were having so much fun they all said let stay out let's stay out. There was a good turn out and the kids enjoyed themselves. They all had their camp shirts on and went through drills, rode the Javelina bus, ate in the cafe, and played games.

Preseason Polls

Texas A&M-Kingsville football team has appeared in a pair of preseason publications.  We were picked 18th in The Sporting News and 22nd in Lindy's Division II Preseason polls.

Summer 1

After the extended weekend its back to work and time to start summer school. The first summer session goes from today until July 1st.  Some players will be back to stay ahead in the classroom and to get workouts and running in.
